Benefit cuts

Learning difficulties charity Mencap is seeking case studies to
help its campaign against cutting benefits of people in
hospitals.

The Social Security Advisory Committee is discussing government
plans to withdraw the mobility component of the disability living
allowance for claimants after four weeks in hospital, and to
transfer those in long-stay hospital for more than a year from the
higher rate of £33.90 per week to £12.90.
