Children should be involved

Young carers and their adult counterparts provide billions of
pounds worth of care, the conference heard.

Stella Lowry, of the BMA’s community care committee, said: ‘When
we meet young carers we are full of admiration for them.’

Lowry said children should be involved in caring tasks in many
families but asked ‘how many children have the real opportunity to
opt out?’
