Tories promise tax breaks on residential care costs

The Conservatives would offer tax breaks to help families paying
for residential care for older parents.

Shadow health secretary Liam Fox said the relief would reward
and help those paying for the care of loved ones. If the
Conservatives win the general election, those families which take
out insurance policies to meet future residential care bills would
be given protection against having to sell their homes if the cover
runs out. Dr Fox said the details and costings of the plan had
still to be worked out, but said a Tory government would match
Labour’s promise to pay for free nursing care for older
people.
