New framework for long term health welcomed

The government’s recent decision to develop a new national
service framework for long term health conditions has been welcomed
by the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Health secretary Alan Milburn announced that patient groups,
including those representing motor neurone disease, would be
involved in the development of the NSF.

George Levvy, chief executive of the association, stressed the
importance of giving people with MND as much control over their own
care as possible which he hoped would be implemented through the
framework’s development.

Levvy said: “The new national service framework will ensure that
health and social services work together to ensure the right level
of care and treatment for people with MND and other neurological
conditions.”
