Swedes put NHS Plan into reverse

Swathes of the Swedish health care service are being transferred
to social services departments, delegates heard.

In the first presentation by a European social services director
to the ADSS seminar, Lars-G’ran Jansson, who runs social services
in Gothenberg, explained that 40 per cent of all nurses in Sweden
are now employed by social services departments.

He added that in the multi-disciplinary teams comprising social
workers and nurses, it is nurses who take the lead.
