Readers divided over NHS ‘Big Brother’ syndrome

Visitors to Community Care’s website are evenly split over
whether social care has anything to fear from “Big Brother
NHS”.

The result of last week’s online poll shows that 49 per cent
agree with health minister John Hutton that social services and
health will become equal partners once care trusts are formed, with
51 per cent disagreeing.

This week’s question asks: Do you think the NHS is better paid
than social services for jobs of equal value?

A survey conducted by Essex Council, which was instigated by
Mike Leadbetter, social services director and senior vice-president
of the Association of Directors of Social Services, has shown that
most staff believe that the NHS offers better pay rates for
managers.
