Directors praise Flintshire

Flintshire Council’s social services department has been praised
by the Association of Directors of Social Services for its work
during the high-profile “internet adoption twins” case earlier this
year.

In a letter released to local councillors this week, ADSS
president Moira Gibb congratulated management and staff for the way
they “represented social work and social services at their best
throughout the episode”.

“The fact that Flintshire kept a cool head throughout, acting
clearly and firmly on behalf of the two babies, was an enormous
credit to the authority and the social work principles on which
social services in the UK are built,” added Gibb’s letter to
Flintshire’s director of education, children’s services and
recreation, Keith McDonogh.

Gibb said she hoped her letter would redress the imbalance of
critical media attention.
