Northern Ireland’s senior social services staff told pay increases are excessive

Northern Ireland`s minister for health and social services
agreed with members of the province’s assembly that pay increases
of senior managers in the two sectors have been excessive.

Bairbre de Brun was responding to a report from the Northern
    Ireland assembly’s public accounts committee

She said: “I appreciate the committee’s concern and I
equally find the history of excessive pay increases to senior
managers in the health and personal social services unacceptable,
at a time when health and social services budgets are under great
    pressure.”

De Brun’s department is currently developing a new pay and
grading scheme that the committee welcomed.
