An overwhelming majority of visitors to Community Care’s website
believe the government’s recruitment campaign has the wrong
emphasis.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness of social work and
improve its image, but 82 per cent of respondents believe it must
offer pay rises if more people are to be attracted into the
sector.

This week’s question asks: A government workforce team
has proposed a greater role for unqualified staff in mental health
work. Do you believe social care generally would benefit from
unqualified workers performing routine care tasks?
