Allow unmarried couples to adopt

Four out of five visitors to Community
Care
‘s website believe unmarried couples should be allowed to
adopt, according to 82 per cent of those who responded to the
poll.

At present only married couples and single
people are able to adopt. Many campaigners have lobbied the
government to change the law using the Adoption and Children
Bill.

This week’s question asks: Should the
government’s social care recruitment campaign make a specific
effort to attract more men?

An Equal Opportunities Commission poll shows
that 92 per cent of young people studying for an intermediate level
GNVQ are women.
