Drop in full time staff in Scottish councils

There were 260 less full time staff working in Scottish local
authorities last year than in 1999, a survey has revealed.

Figures published this week by the Scottish Executive and the
Convention of Scottish Local Authorities shows a total of 235,899
full time equivalent staff in December 2000, compared with 236,159
in December 1999.
