Parents of abandoned baby due to meet social services

The parents of baby Charlie Penny, who was abandoned by his
parents in Portugal at the weekend, are today due to meet social
services staff in their home town of Bournemouth, Dorset.

A spokesperson for the borough’s social services department said
staff were preparing to liaise with their Portugese counterparts to
discuss the fate of the child.

The boy, who was born with a cleft palate, was left near Faro
airport before his parents caught a plane to England.

He was found by a local resident and is now being cared for at
the Aboim Ascensao orphanage.
