Commission staff to take new test

Inspectors for the National Care Standards
Commission and the Care Standards Inspectorate of Wales will be
required to undertake a newly-developed qualification.

The 1,500 staff who will join the NCSC when it
comes into being in April will be tested for key competencies
including dealing with complaints, inspection and registration, in
order to attain the Regulation of Care Services Award.

Developed by the General Social Care Council
and the NCSC, with the United Kingdom Central Council, the award
aims to ensure that staff – drawn from different work backgrounds,
including local authorities and health authorities – have the same
knowledge and skills.
