Plan to phase out B&Bs is ‘unrealistic’

A majority of visitors to Community Care’s
website believe it is unrealistic for no more families to be placed
in bed and breakfast, unless in an emergency, by 2004.

Fifty-nine per cent said the target set in the
government’s homelessness strategy was unrealistic, with 41 per
cent saying it was achievable.

This week’s question asks: Is paying
grandparents the answer to the crisis in child care?

The government is looking at a scheme run by
Nottinghamshire council which gives child carers, including
grandparents, vouchers worth up to £25 per week.
