Police launch murder inquiry after death of care worker (updated report)

A 14-year-old girl has been released on bail following the death
of a care worker at a residential home for young people in
Bristol.

The girl was arrested at the home in the Fishponds area of
Bristol after the 50-year-old man was found dying. Police were
called to the scene following reports of a violent incident, and
the man was rushed to Frenchay hospital in the city, but was found
to be dead on arrival.

A police spokesperson said the results of a post mortem on
father-of-three, Paul Gooding, revealed that he died from a heart
attack.

“We have launched a murder investigation after the body of a
50-year-old man was found. A 14-year-old girl was arrested at the
scene,” the spokesperson said.

The home, is run by Greenfields Adolescent Development based in
Caldicot, Monmouthshire, which is a specialist provider of care and
support to young people aged 11 to 18.
