Pro-women stance at Wakefield praised

A scheme to help female employees achieve
their full potential at work has won Wakefield Council the national
Framework for Action award.

The prize, which recognises how an
organisation helps women to achieve their potential in all levels
of work, went to the Stepping Up scheme which was launched four
years ago.

Cherie Booth presented the award at a ceremony
in London, organised by Opportunity Now, which works to promote the
economic potential and business benefits that women bring to
workplaces.

Stepping Up initiatives at Wakefield include
women-only seminars, job shadowing and a life-work balance booklet
for all staff – male and female.
