Abuse victims tell the truth, MPs told

A solicitor who specialises in child abuse
cases has claimed “there are no people in prison for child abuse
who are blameless.”

Giving
evidence last week to the third meeting of the Home Affairs Select
Committee into child abuse in children’s homes, Peter Garsten said
he had not come across any cases of false allegations.

Garsten, founder of the
Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, said only a tiny proportion of
people made false claims.

He
also dismissed suggestions that claimants were encouraged by
compensation payouts.
