Councils’ work with voluntaries backed

Seventy-nine per cent of visitors to Community

’s website believe councils will play their part in
meeting the targets in the government’s voluntary sector
review.

This week’s question asks: Is it justified to
place 12 to 16 year olds on remand in custody for non-violent
offences if it reduces crime?

Under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, courts can
remand in custody young offenders who persistently break bail
conditions.
