Remand measures backed by readers

It is justified to place 12 to 16 year olds on remand for
non-violent offences if it reduces crime, according to nearly
two-thirds of visitors to Community Care‘s website.

Sixty-three per cent supported the new measure introduced under the
Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, with 37 per cent opposing
it.

This week’s question asks: Will the fines for delayed
discharges lead to carers’ views being ignored in over hasty
discharge planning?

Carers UK has criticised the proposed fines because if older people
are discharged too quickly there will be no time to consult
carers.
