Hundreds of awards entries show high standard of achievements

The shortlist for the Community Care Awards 2002, which
recognise and celebrate the achievements of social care
professionals, was announced this week for the 10 categories of
projects.

This year the event attracted more than 400 entries. The judges –
Andrew Cousins, director of Leicester social services department;
Amanda Edwards, head of knowledge services at the Social Care
Institute for Excellence; Professor Joan Orme from Glasgow
University’s department of social policy and social work; Roger
Singleton, chief executive of Barnardo’s; and Polly Neate, editor
of Community Care – praised the high standard across the
board.

The shortlisted projects, below, have been invited to an awards
lunch at the London Hilton on Thursday, 14 November, where the
category and overall winners will be announced.
