Key partners in the delivery of Connexions are inadequately
represented on partnership boards and on local management
committees, according to a report by education watchdog
Ofsted.
The report, which looks at the first year of Connexions
partnerships, is based on 15 inspections and focuses on four
themes: partnerships, the role of the personal adviser, the
involvement of young people, and careers guidance.
While progress had been made in establishing working relationships
between partners, there was still much to do to ensure that the
partnership principle was put into practice. In two-thirds of
partnerships, some key partners are inappropriately represented,
Ofsted said.
While the effort had been made to involve young people, the range
and number of young people involved was inadequate.
