Home secretary David Blunkett has indicated that on-the-spot fines
for antisocial behaviour may be extended to young people.
Under a pilot scheme introduced in August adult offenders in parts
of England and Wales can receive on-the-spot fines of £40 or
£80 for various kinds of antisocial behaviour.
Blunkett signalled support for the extension of the policy to cover
juveniles in the Commons debate on the Queen’s Speech.
