Care trusts Investigations into trusts launched

Two of the existing five care trusts are under investigation
following incidents involving service users.

Camden and Islington Mental Health and Social Care Trust is to
carry out an internal investigation concerning a man charged this
week with three murders following the discovery of human remains in
bin bags. Anthony Hardy had been receiving care from the care trust
and its predecessor since 1995.

Meanwhile, the Commission for Health Improvement has begun an
investigation into Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust,
following allegations of abuse at one of its hospitals. The
investigation was launched after claims were made that older people
were being subjected to mental and physical punishments.
