New inspection regime for teams

Youth offending teams are to be assessed under a new joint
inspection programme announced just before Christmas.

The Prisons, Probation and Constabulary Inspectorates are to carry
out the inspections alongside the Social Services Inspectorate and
the education inspectorates, Ofsted for England and Estyn for
Wales, in consultation with the Home Office and the Youth Justice
Board.

The programme is expected to start in April and the team aims to
inspect all 154 YOTs in England and Wales over a five to six-year
cycle.
