Readers say reforms will not stop deaths

The reforms suggested by Lord Laming in his report into Victoria
Climbié’s death will not prevent another child dying
from abuse because of failures by the agencies, according to
two-thirds of visitors to Community Care’s
website.

This week’s web question asks: Should senior
managers in place at the time of Victoria
Climbié
’s death make a public statement
accepting responsibility for their part in the failure to protect
her?

Laming criticised senior managers for their refusal to accept
any of the blame for the failings of services involved in the
case.
