New minister for young people appointed

Peter Peacock

A new minister for education and young people in Scotland has been
appointed to replace Cathy Jamieson.

Peter Peacock, who is Labour MSP for Highlands and Islands, was
formerly deputy finance minister.

Jamieson has been made justice minister in the newly formed
Scottish executive. Margaret Curran has been appointed to the new
role of communities minister (social justice was the title in the
last parliament). She is MSP for Glasgow Ballieston and will have
the task of seeing Labour’s controversial anti-social legislation
through parliament.
