Scottish social work faces crisis of confidence

Scottish social work directors were told last month that the
profession is facing a “crisis of confidence”.

Scott Barrie, a Labour MSP for Dunfermline West, told the
Association of Directors of Social Work annual conference that the
crisis was caused partly by poor image.

He said government and directors needed to concentrate efforts
on improving public perception by targeting those who were
sympathetic to social work.
