Bodies want boost for natural leaders

Two leading voluntary organisations are calling for a cash boost to
help promote much-needed leadership skills within the sector.

The Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations and
the National Council for Voluntary Organisations believe many
people have leadership potential but that a lack of investment
prevents them from demonstrating it.

A report launched by the two bodies this week recommends
establishing a new organisation to disseminate best practice,
research leadership and lobby and network for new opportunities in
that area.

Acevo chief executive Stephen Bubb said that “serious attention and
resources” needed to be devoted to leadership work as scrutiny of
the sector increased in line with its enhanced role in public
service delivery.
