Essex to pioneer pathfinder trust

A care trust in Essex is the first to be chosen to set up a
pathfinder children’s trust.

Witham, Braintree and Halstead Care Trust and Essex County Council
will bring together social care, education and health services for
children.

The care trust, which was established in October last year, is
responsible for local health services.

Dr Paul Zollinger-Read, care trust chief executive, said:
“Children’s services are fragmented. This is an opportunity to
develop children’s services around children rather than around
organisations.”

A total of 35 pathfinder children’s trusts were announced in July.
