Hodge announces extended schools

Over 60 extended schools have been announced
by the minister for children, young people and families.

Margaret Hodge named the 61 extended schools
that will be funded by the government to provide a full range of
community services, including childcare, health and social care and
family learning.

Ministers have pledged that at least one
school in every local education authority will receive funding by
2006.

Hodge also announced 29 more Sure Start
Children’s Centres, which provide care education and support for
the under-fives.
