Hodge announces extended schools

Over 60 extended schools have been announced by the minister for
children, young people and families.

Margaret Hodge named the 61 extended schools that will be funded
by the government to provide a full range of community services,
including childcare, health and social care and family
learning.

Ministers have pledged that at least one school in every local
education authority will receive funding by 2006.

Hodge also announced 29 more Sure Start Children’s Centres,
which provide care education and support for the under-fives.
