Demands rise on mental health staff

Demands on the services provided by mental health officers in
Scotland have increased since the Adults with Incapacity Act 2000
and look set to rise further under the new mental health act, says
a national survey commissioned by the Scottish executive and
conducted by the Scottish Development Centre for Mental
Health.

The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act, to be introduced in
2004, will bring additional responsibilities to mental health
officers.
