Fee rise to cover nursing costs

Payments to cover nursing services for NHS-funded residents of
care homes have been raised by the Department of Health.

From 1 April, nursing homes will be able to claim £125 per
week for each resident with high needs (up from £120) and
£77.50 for medium needs residents (up from £75).

The low needs payment will remain at £40 but primary care
trusts will be given additional powers to pay an amount between the
low and medium bands if they identify a need.

Self-funded residents will also be able to claim the payments,
so that the amounts are deducted from their weekly fee.
