Upheaval at Ealing as Leadbetter quits

Mike Leadbetter has quit his job as interim director of Ealing
social services – the fourth senior manager to leave the council in
the past six months.

Leadbetter, a former president of the Association of Directors of
Social Services, resigned just six months after joining the council
at the end of last year following the retirement of Norman Tutt,
then director of housing and social services, at the end of his
five-year contract.

Julie Hollyman, former chief executive of the West London NHS
Mental Health Trust, has replaced Leadbetter in the interim.

Last month, Caroline Whalley, executive director of education also
left the council. This followed the departure at the end of last
year of Minna Natthoo, director of diversity and talent.
