New drug is greeted

A new drug to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) has been cautiously welcomed by mental health charity
YoungMinds.

According to its manufacturer, atomoxetine can provide 24-hour
relief from the symptoms of ADHD in children and adolescents.

Dinah Morley, acting director of YoungMinds, said that it is
always “useful” to have a new option available, as not every child
responds to Ritalin which is often prescribed for ADHD.

The drug’s brand name is Strattera. It is manufactured by
Eli Lilly.
