Managers take over in wake of probes

Social work managers have taken over the running of a privately
owned care home, following the death of a resident two weeks
ago.

Isabella McGregor died after being taken to hospital from Ashley
Court Nursing Home in Edinburgh, run by the Randolph Hill Group.
She was covered in bed sores at the time she was removed.

The death prompted a police investigation as well as one by the
Care Commission.

The commission asked Edinburgh Council to send in managers to
supervise the running of the home, while it continues its
investigation, which is expected to last several weeks.

Edinburgh interim director of social work Duncan MacAulay said the
managers would “ensure the care and treatment of the residents is
of a high standard”.
