to you?

A community psychiatric nurse.

If you ran care services in your area what would you do
differently?

Raise the status of commonsense and include it as a necessary
criterion for employers and employees.

Name one thing that would make your life better?

For those who control the purse strings to release the funds for
agreed identified services more quickly.

What event most changed your life?
My first 10 days on a sailing boat in 1987.

Has any government policy ever benefited you
personally?

The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 will do
when it comes into force next April.

How are you going to vote in the next general
election?

That’s between me and the ballot box.

If you won the lottery how would you spend
it?

Establish some sort of therapeutic community respite/short-stay
facility for people with mental health problems.

What makes you happy?
Seeing positive changes around me.

How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who helped reduced the stigma surrounding mental
illness.

What is the most important lesson you have
learned?

To listen.
