Northern Ireland provision reviewed

The King’s Fund has started a six-month review of health and social
care in Northern Ireland.

The inquiry, which will be led by chief economist Professor John
Appleby, will look at demand for services, resources and the
relationship between health and social care.

It will be similar to Derek Wanless’s 2003 inquiry into Welsh
health and social care, and comes amid calls for a fundamental
review of social services funding in England, along the lines of
Wanless’s 2002 report on the NHS.
