Supporting People needs better monitoring

Supporting People needs to have better monitoring systems and
much clearer targets, an Association of London Government
conference heard today, writes Paul
Stephenson
.

Terrie Alafat, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister’s
director of homelessness and housing support, said Supporting
People programmes had made good progress but more identifiable
outcomes were needed.

She said the Audit Commission would be producing a report later
this year summarising 100 programme inspections, which would show
there has been “a reduction in risk to vulnerable
people”.

However, she said better monitoring of what was being delivered
on the ground was needed.
