Biggest strike since 1926 planned for next week

Public sector workers are set to strike next week in what would
be the biggest walk-out since the General Strike in 1926,
writes Clare Jerrom.

Members of UNISON, PCS, T&G, AMICUS and UCATT are gearing up
for a one-day walk-out on 23 March in protest at changes to their
pension scheme.

Last minute talks are being held in a bid to come to an
agreement and prevent strike action going ahead.

However, public sector unions will sign a joint statement of
unity tomorrow and have not ruled out further strike action after
the one-day walk out next week.
