Jobcentres failing over 50s, say MPs

Jobcentres should face targets on improving the employability of
disadvantaged over 50s even if they are not ready to find work,
according to MPs.

In a report on barriers to work, the House of Commons public
accounts committee says the performance management system is
discouraging Jobcentre staff helping those furthest from rejoining
the labour force.

In a separate report on Ofgem, the committee calls for the energy
regulator to prevent suppliers charging more on pre-pay meters,
which tend to be used by poorer people.
