Aynsley-Green needs to act quickly

The children’s commissioner for England needs to show
children and young people that he can make a difference quickly,
delegates were told today, writes Amy Taylor from
Leeds.

Speaking at the Confederation of Education and Children’s
Services Managers summer conference in Leeds, Christine Davies,
director of children’s services at Telford and Wrekin
Council, said that Al Aynsley-Green would need some “quick
wins”.

Davies went on to urge the commissioner to use existing networks
to get in contact with children and young people rather than
creating new ones.

She concluded that while involving and consulting young people
was good, a commissioner needed to go further and get them to shape
services.
