Who has had the biggest influence on you?

Chris Phillips, my boyfriend and another Great Britain swimming
team member.

Who has been most use to you?
My social worker, Donna Hatton.

What would make your life better?

I’m looking forward to moving out of full-time residential care and
having a more independent lifestyle in Craegmoor’s supported living
accommodation.

What three words best describe you?
Hard-working, happy, confident.

What event most changed your life?
Moving into Craegmoor’s Strathmore House care home.

What is your favourite expression?
“I’m not here, go away!”

What is your greatest achievement?

When I won a gold medal for swimming at the Down’s Syndrome World
Championships in South Africa in 2004.

What makes you happy?
Doing colouring and watching TV.

When were you last angry?
A couple of months ago when someone was rude to me. As I
find it difficult to get my words out sometimes I was
frustrated.

When did you last cry?
When my dad died 15 years ago.

Who would you like to swap places with?
Nobody, I’m happy being me. I’ve had a great life and have
achieved great things.

What is the most important lesson you have
learned?


To put me first.
