Cozens appointed to IdEA

Andrew Cozens has been appointed as the new strategic adviser
for children, adult and health services by the Improvement and
Development Agency, writes Clare
Jerrom.

Cozens is currently corporate director of social care at
Leicester Council and is a former president of the Association of
Director of Social Services. He is also the council’s deputy
chief executive and interim director of education and lifelong
learning.

Executive director of the IDeA Lucy de Groot said Cozens would
play a “pivotal role in our work in the crucial service areas
of Children, Adult and Health Services, in a period when the
Children Act, together with the White Papers on Adult Social Care
and Public Health, provide great opportunities for the leadership
role of local government”.

Cozens will begin his work at IDeA in January 2006 and build on
the work of the previous strategic adviser for children’s
services Paul Roberts who has moved into the role of director of
strategy, implementation and development.
