Who has had the biggest influence on you?
My mum. She always knows what to do and her hugs seem to make problems disappear.

Which health or social care professional has been most use to you?
Sue Cullingworth, the children’s officer for Northumberland Care Trust, who introduced me to campaigning for young carers.

What event most changed your life?
Witnessing physical abuse towards children who were unable to fight back.

Has any government policy ever benefited you personally?
Yes, the financial support provided by the government to enable me to stay on at sixth form.

If you won the lottery how would you spend it?
On presents for all my family and friends because I love present shopping.

When were you last angry? Why?
I work in a literary centre for children and it really annoys me when customers make presumptions about my intelligence and patronise me.

Who do you most admire?
Ambitious people because everyone should be ambitious and not just settle for what they are expected to achieve.

If you ran care services in your area what would you do differently?
Provide transport and “fun bursaries” for young carers.

What is your greatest achievement?
Becoming head girl at school.

When did you last cry?
On A-level results day with happiness.
