Hughes calls for support for families

The children’s minister called for practitioners to get back to supporting both young people and their parents today at a conference in London.

Beverley Hughes told delegates that some services had “slipped away” from working with parents as well as young people themselves.

Hughes added that there was a need to appreciate young people’s contributions to society more than was currently happening.

She concluded that the government recognised that support for parents and teenagers was less widely available than support for families with children and that this could cause parents to feel isolated.
