Former education secretary Estelle Morris has called for more investment in the pay and training of early years workers.
Morris, chair of the Children’s Workforce Development Council, said: “If early years is as important as we believe, then these people need to be well-qualified, held in high esteem and financially well-rewarded.”
She made the comments at the formal launch of Skills for Care and Development, the UK-wide sector skills council for social care and children’s services.
