Without sick pay and the pension I’d have been in the gutter.

Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. You can read it for ever.

When did you last cry?
About seven years ago when the outside wall of my outside loo fell down.

What is your favourite expression?
Look after yourself.

Who would you like to swap places with?
Anyone who has beaten their mental illness.

What cause would you fight for?
I already do, the “right to life”.

How would you like to be remembered?
As the man who got the Abortion Act 1967 repealed.

What is the most important lesson you have learned?
Patience.
