Agencies to probe worker’s murder

Investigations are to be launched following the murder of a mental health charity worker in Newcastle.

Ashleigh Ewing, 22, a support worker for Mental Health Matters, was found dead at a flat she had visited as part of her job.

Ronald Dixon, 34, of Heaton, Newcastle, has been remanded in custody, charged with her murder.

The police have asked for a multi-agency public protection conference to be convened and have also referred the case to the Health and Safety Executive.

Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust has launched an internal inquiry and Northumberland, Tyne and Wear Strategic Health Authority is likely to announce an external investigation.
