Review of independent living services for disabled people announced

The government’s Office for Disability Issues is to carry out a review of independent living services for disabled people, including individual budgets.

The office, established in December last year, announced the move in its first annual report, published today.

It said the review will provide guidance on developing cross-government strategy to help disabled people live independently by looking at the progress of current schemes.

The report also proposed the launch of an advisory network for disability equality before the end of this year.
